Ate here with family and friends for my sister's birthday. Of the people who actually received their food, almost no one got the correct order, but half of us didn't even eat because our food never arrived. Oysters were grainy, crab dip was gritty, Reuben came without slaw, salad greens were warm. This place used to be good, but it's gone downhill as of late.

This was the worst meal anywhere in a long, long time.

Tragedy! This scaled-up crabshack was for decades one of the best restaurants in the area, the original creation of the Stones who have gone on to own and/or run several. This last summer season, the quality has gone way down in all of them -- both the food and the service. Famous for decades as the best crab cakes anywhere in the area, this particular one right on the water with a delightful view, is no longer the first place I take visitors.

I have always had good experiences at Stoney's. Unfortunately, not so this time. Got seated a bit earlier than expected. But the table was dirty and had not been wiped clean. We ordered an appetizer and entrees with salads. The entrees arrived without salads and we had to ask when they were coming and what had happened to the appetizer. The salads arrived shortly thereafter only because our waitress made them herself. We then finished our meal and the appetizer arrived. The food was GREAT but service definitely lacking. This appeared widespread yesterday as we could hear many others complaining and asking to talk to a manager. We too spoke to a manager who apologized and gave us a gift card. Perhaps Stoney's was having a bad day and the service issue was a one-off event. I hope so since I always like going there and certainly do not want this to become the norm.

We had the best time Tuesday. We came to meet an old friend so lots of talking and catching up. Some places make you uncomfortable if you stay too long, but not Stoney’s. They were just great. The staff was attentive but not intrusive, and the food was delicious. All the dishes we ordered were prepared fresh and the flavors reflected it. I think this is one of the best places we have eaten at in a long time, and we intend to return every time we are in the area. The food, people and service were all perfect. Great job Stoney’s.

Let's hope it gets back to its former glory.

A group of us attempted to enjoy a warm October lunch at this waterside restaurant. We divided up in about 4 tables of 7 or 8. The outdoor seating area was busy, but they should have anticipated this since it was a very nice day and one of the few remaining this season. But they had only one bartender (the owner) who was doing double duty running food to the bar and making drinks. There was only one waitress serving a large outdoor area and she was overwhelmed. When we finally got food after waiting over 2 hours, most of it was not fit to eat. Fried oysters were overcooked and like a small piece of rubber in the batter. Sliders looked like hockey pucks. Food was barely warm. Draft beer was $8.25. What more needs to be said?
